Information about the federal state of Saxony-Anhal
The state is characterized by very different landscapes, but also mentalities. This is where the famous Bauhaus of modernism in Dessau meets the medieval town of Quedlinburg (UNESCO World Heritage). Bötel with clay and straw and Harzer Roller (a sour milk cheese) are among the best known specialities. In the Harz region there is even a vintner and in the Salzland district people eat pottsuse (a larded meat) or bratwurst (a coarse mettwurst), which does not go on the grill.
