Regional specialties from Saxony

Saxony, which belongs to Central Germany, is characterized by its tasty cuisine. The best-known export hit is the Dresden Christmas stollen . In the Erzgebirge there is the Neunerlei (a sequence of dishes) at Christmas, the Leipziger Allerlei is served in the original with crabs and in the Sorbian Upper Lusatia there is handmade smoked cheese . Saxony is also known for its desserts such as the Saxon egg pancake , Leipzig larch , Meissner fummel or buttermilk getzels from the Ore Mountains.
